As a Nashua Family Photographer I want to get this out of the way.
Nobody wakes up on family photo day thinking, “You know what sounds relaxing? Convincing toddlers to wear real clothes while pretending we’re all having the best day ever.”
I get it.
As a family photographer, I’ve photographed enough families to know that someone is probably going to spill something, someone else won’t want to smile, and Dad is already asking, “How much longer?”
The good news?
None of that means your photos won’t be amazing.
In fact, some of my favorite images happen somewhere between the chaos and the bribery. And for the rest…well let’s just say Photoshop.
Your Kids Don’t Need to Be Perfect
This might surprise you, but I don’t expect children to stand perfectly still. Noones’ children do, even the rare unicorns who cooperate.
They’re kids.
They’re supposed to wiggle, laugh, explore, make weird faces, and occasionally ignore every direction an adult gives them.
There is no foolproof way to get that perfect family photos. Instead, we lean into the wiggles, the potty humor giggles and the silliness. Ill hand the rest with a lot of head swapping to get those smiling-at-the-camera photos Grandma wants, but we’ll also capture the moments that feel like your family.
Years from now, those are usually the favorites.
Family Photos in Nashua Are Better When Everyone Relaxes

“My kids never cooperate.”

Seriously.
I’ve built my sessions around real families—not Instagram robots.
We’ll take breaks when we need them, let kids be kids and then laugh when things don’t go according to plan.

You do not need matching white shirts and jeans.
Actually…please don’t.
Coordinating colors photograph much better than matching outfits. Soft neutrals, earth tones, and textures help keep the focus where it belongs—on your family instead of your clothing.

When should we book family photos?
Fall dates book the fastest, often several months in advance. If you have a specific season in mind, it’s always best to reserve your session early.
What if my child won’t cooperate?
Don’t panic.
Seriously.
I’ve photographed hundreds of children, and almost every parent apologizes at some point during the session. Most of the time, the kids end up doing great once they realize they’re allowed to have fun.
Where do family photo sessions take place?
I photograph families throughout Nashua and Southern New Hampshire, and I’m happy to recommend locations based on the season, lighting, and the ages of your children.
What happens if the weather is bad?
New England likes to keep us guessing.
If Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate, we’ll simply reschedule for the next available date with better weather.

Extended Family Photos Don’t Have to Be a Circus
Getting grandparents, siblings, cousins, and all the kids together can feel like you’re trying to organize a small wedding. The good news? I’ve done this more times than I can count. We’ll start with the big group while everyone is still fresh, then work through smaller family combinations before the kids decide they’ve officially had enough. Yes, it takes a little planning, but the result is something you’ll treasure for years—especially since getting everyone together isn’t exactly an everyday event.
M Family Spring Photos
Spring time can only mean one thing, a visit from Nana and Papa to celebrate B’s birthday. And a Nashua family photographer session to capture them together. We had a bit of an issue getting the second car full of people to the correct location so we started out with just the youngest of the M kids. I just love the skeptical look he is giving me in the second photo.
Once we got everyone to the correct place we had to be quick to get everything we needed before the sun set. Luckily, some silly talk did the trick and we breezed through the family and sibling shots. The birthday girl opted for a lego theme for her birthday photos. She had fun playing with her balloons and showing me some of her best ballet moves. I couldn’t resist this one last photo during that last little bit of blue light as the family walked back up the hill to the car, Dad with the balloons in tow.

Little A was possibly one of my easiest newborns ever. She slept so soundly that I could mover her around and she didn’t even make a peep. When I showed up for her 1 year portrait session and saw that beautiful red hair I decided that she was just a photographers dream baby. She definitely made me work a little harder this time and only smiled when she was really impressed with something. This first one of her and said adorable smile is probably my favorite. I just adore her little face!
C Family – At the Park
The universe was really working against us the day of the family session. I was informed that my son had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid. This meant I had to pick him up from school early. Then I had to drag him out to be tested (which was negative, thankfully). Then I had to go back and forth with the school nurse, department of public health and baseball coach to figure out what the rules of quarantine were.
After getting the all clear and speaking with Mom we decided to proceed with our session as planned. Little did we know that the normally quite little park I chose for photos would be besieged by Prom goes. Seemingly every student and their family had panned to meet up to take some pre-prom photos. Thankfully the start of prom coincided with the start of our session and after a little waiting it eventually died down.
Being a small business owner and Nashua Family Photographer isn’t always easy. Sometimes you are responsible for a million different things at once and not everything always goes to plan. On these days I am relieved to have a family who is willing to go with the flow.
P Family – At the Orchard
I have been their family photographer for 4 years now. I feel like we have definitely hit our stride. The oldest Js (including J Sr) are always perfect gentlemen. The littlest J no longer wants/needs my tricks to make him laugh/smile. I shared a couple previews with Mom privately before this post and she said “I am in tears, I just love all my boys so much.” It made me think for a second because that is the best compliment I think I can get. If you look at your images you and can feel the love coming off the picture then I have done my job!
W Family – At the beach
Feeling a little of the end of summer family photographer blues over here. This was my very last beach session of the season. Man will I miss those long summer nights and evening trips to the beach.
There was definitely a chill in the air for the W family’s session but as you can see that didn’t stop these little ones from getting in some ocean time. The W family is one of my favorite fellow family of 6. I feel at home when I am with them. A session with multiple small children can go a variety of different ways. These guys were all so good I didn’t even feel that “goodness gracious I hope that I got at least one smile from them” pain in the pit of my stomach.
All in all it was a pretty relaxed session. Mom and Dad were happy to let me lead and just go with the flow. I think the results are adorable. Especially the one of the littlest member of the family struggling to keep up with his big siblings and not quite making it.
