Newborn Photography – Southern NH

It’s hard to believe my journey in newborn photography in Southern NH began six years ago. I had always loved photography, but after having my son, my passion grew even stronger. When a friend welcomed her baby boy, I jumped at the chance to capture those first precious moments—and I was instantly hooked. I like to think his adorable, ready-made faux hawk had something to do with it!

My first year in Newborn Photography

Have you ever loved learning? Very few things have sparked that passion for me. But after one 2–3 hour newborn photography session in Southern NH (when I wasn’t mom-ing), I was completely hooked. I wanted to read more. I wanted to study more. I wanted to practice more. Of course, when you spend a lot of time studying other photographers’ work, you start to copy their style. And that’s exactly what I did.

My time was split between raising kids, my day job, and my photography work. And let me tell you, the mom guilt was real. My husband and I decided it was time for a change. I would leave my “real job” and focus on being a stay-at-home mom. That decision led us to a new home here in New Hampshire. It also gave me a small studio to keep growing this little photography hobby of mine.

Then came the twins! And yes, they completely surprised us. Suddenly, we had four kids under the age of four. My oldest was almost 4. My middle was nearly 2. And then newborn twins arrived. Believe me, after that, I questioned my decision to be a stay-at-home mom more than a few times.

But we survived… at least so far! Photography became more than just a hobby. It became my creative outlet. A way to recharge and escape the stresses of life with four kids. Around this time, I really started exploring my own style. I focused on what made me happy creatively and what I wanted my work to feel like.

Finding my style of Newborn Photography in Southern NH

So, what makes me happy creatively? In no particular order: neutral colors, soft matching tones, and feathered lighting. I love simple setups and photographing multiples—twins and beyond (looking at you, Cook quads!). Cozy knit outfits, fuzzy bear bonnets, and gentle wrapping are my favorites. I enjoy capturing mom shots, dad shots, sibling shots, and, above all, family shots. My style is always evolving, and I love discovering new ways to make it feel just right.

I could not be more grateful for every baby who has come my way. And for every family who has trusted me and valued my work at every stage of my journey. As I launch my new website and look back at all the images from my previous site, I still love every single one. Each photo brought me to this moment. I feel unbelievably lucky that I get to do this—and call it my “real” job.

  4. I can’t believe it has been two years since I read this blog. It reminds me so much as to why we chose Kerri to do our newborn session with her. Even though it has been two years since our daughters birth every time I look back on our newborn session pictures it feels like yesterday. Kerri is unbelievably talented and puts so much time and effort into her sessions. We still get comments to this day on the newborn pictures in our house and a few of my friends that are now moms who went to someone (instead of listening to me) regret it. We are so thankful that Kerri was apart of a very special moment in our lives!!
